1. Attractional church sees church as a noun... Missional church sees church as a verb
2. The best way to spread Missional is to live it and expose people to the virus!

How do you be missional when you have denominational budgets to pay?

-people aren’t coming anyway, so once we get the idea that we are a leader of a missionary force and not a leader of a church culture…the score card isn’t how many people are showing up…it’s how many people are going out!

The money is out there, and we get a small fraction of what people want to give. Once you release people to do good, the offerings will come.

Is God’s scorecard Sunday school attendance? Or kids crying at night?

Charge overhead when the traditional church plants a missional one in the community.

Once you move out to bless people, you realize God has resources everywhere.

What are your thoughts on this nation being a ‘christian nation’?

I think this is a 'pre-christian nation'. Most have never heard the gospel. We have confused the gospel with an invitation to church. But the gospel is about hope for people right where they are living. We’ve decided it doesn’t count until people become like us. But, there are people who have decided to follow Jesus and will never come to our gatherings. People who have rhythms of life that will never allow them to go to church. What about police? Restaraunts? People don’t have to conform to our ways to be a part of the church.

This is why a house church conforms to people’s lives.

A neighborhood is not where they live…but where they work, or do their leisurely activities.

It’s about figuring out how to be an incarnational presence in the life of the people you already are doing life with!


What does it mean to be a house church or a missional community

House church = Missional communities

The meeting however is very different from the traditional church.
-It revolves around a meal,
-they talk about whats going on in their lives…
-the more unchurched they are the easier it is to accomplish,
-lots of prayer,
-not built around teaching.

Would you be willing to talk about the DNA of a missional church?

The 20 somethings already have the DNA. They are going to grow up and never be an institutional supporter…but they are going to change the world. They won’t build institution like the ‘builders’…they will go next door and shingle a roof.

Our kids get that its about people, not institutions. Righteousness is not about right with God as much as with others. If you don’t love people then don’t claim to love God!

Do you have a definition for success and a definition for discipleship?

Your ability to be obedient. If you are obedient…that is success.

In a church, you can know what you’re doing. In the kingdom, you don’t know what you’re doing. You merely do what you are told.
JJ works at longhorns and metals and tattoos. Reggie scared him once by asking to pray for him. So Reggie backed off and continued to visit him at work. JJ told Reggie he was moving to Atlanta and Reggie told him he was goint to ask God to bless him. So Reggie goes and gets his coffee and realizes that JJ is still at the table with his head bowed. So Reggie prayed for him.

You either believe God or you believe in God

We’ve been told that it only counts if we ‘close the deal’ or ‘share the gospel’. When are we going to get it? We just have to be obedient.

The King already has agents in Atlanta.

What people see their leaders do, tells them what is most important. So you can teach people or you can live it with and in front of people.
