i dream...

"and the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painfull than the risk it took to blossom" arin

i am a youth pastor. it's not what i do...it's who i am. we've been spending a considerable amount of time digging into what it means to participate in the restoration of creation (plants, animals, humanity, all of it) by taking a look at scripture (with an admitted missional lense).

this week i shared some of my dreams for our community, dreams i believe are inspired by God, and i asked our students to share some of their dreams for our youth community. as a community we are still trying to discover God's dreams. as 11-18 year olds (with the exception of some adult mentors) we are just trying to figure out life with God and others. below are some of our collaborative dreams...

...we need to be a family committed to adopting other brothers and sisters

...all of us united

...to have everyone communicate, regardless of age, sex or race.

...for everyone to get along and for everyone here to feel they can express their true emotions.

...a place of comfort. people of the community will want to feel loved by us.

...we help people feel connected to God and to others.

...unity, love, connection.

...to spread around the love of God to everyone in our community.

...everyone lives in peace.

...heaven on earth, literally.

...it looks dirty. as though we focused only on God's plan and not even on our personal hygiene.

...where girls stop trying to be liked by boys and start accepting God's love.

...i don't know what i dream.

...integration of all kinds of people groups. art collaboration.

...we provide a car that needy families can borrow.

...life how it should be.

...we could encourage the very people we've hurt in our lives and they can be healed.

...people don't have to change to be accepted.

...i dream that one day all of us really care about each other as people regardless of race, economics, physical looks, athletic ability or mental capacity.

...changed lives, a close knit family.

...everyone would be more connected to God through each other by helping each other.

(this is a sample of the many dreams we collected. they have been edited slightly in order to make sense and have a somewhat reasonable sentence structure)
