weekly i gather with a community of students (with a few adults mixed in) to hang out for awhile, eat some food, goof around, throw things at each other, and look at the scriptures together. during this time of the year, with easter approaching, we've been taking a look at the gospels, in particular, the week leading up to the death of the son of man. a few weeks ago we looked at a man named simon, who was forced to carry the cross with Christ for a portion of the day that Jesus was crucified. we began to think about what that must have been like. to have your own agenda for a day, and then be pulled into a 'partnership' with a criminal on his way to be executed.
if i'm honest there are many times i feel like simon. i have my own agenda, my own comforts, my own life. then, someone comes into my life who is needy, a mess, a drain... a total inconvenience. yet, i know i should be partnering with Christ to restore creation where i can. below are some of the responses of this youth community that i am a part of. the question was...'what if you were simon...what are 2 words that describe how you would feel.'

sorry i didn't make it to the game today. i was just in a bad mood and decided to go home. i hope you don't feel like i'm avoiding you for coffee :P. but we'll talk Sunday and try and figure something out. i've gotta work all next week during spring break but we'll figure out something. anyways, later man.
