BSG confession

so i’m a total geek...i can’t get into all of the reasons why i am considered this. but for now, let’s just mention my affinity for all things science fiction. i grew up watching star trek. this was a journey and an adventure mind you. we didn’t have cable growing up. we had the frequency which our aluminum foil enhanced rabbit ears allowed us, which was never anything scifi related, and was 3 stations at the most. so even as a young boy i would have to finangle my way to my aunt marge's house. there, after dinner, we'd all sit in the living room and watch tv. the kicker was, my uncle liked the news (the most boring thing for a child to watch) and so we'd have to wait until my uncle fell asleep (which he always did) before we could change the channel. as you can imagine, i'd join every episode about 7 minutes late. i didn't care...i just wanted to watch the show.

my confession is this. i'm not one of those geeks who is brilliant. i'm not even incredibly smart. mildly intelligent? maybe that's closer to home. But if you are a geek, or just have an affinity like me for all things sci fi, you should check out the new battlestar galactica series. this has been labeled televisions best drama. but what i find most intriguing is the shows main theme being the exploration of the characters in their relation to God. what's more, this show is a classic 'human vs machine' motif. yet it's the machines (cylons) who have a greater faith in their creator. a great place to start would be to download the first episode on itunes. check it out.
